I am a very basic knitter and can’t ever follow patterns or instructions or make complicated things... not like my amazing Mum or my Nan could. But I find knitting such a calming productive thing to do and I like seeing things I have made in my home and on people.

I knitted (knat) the hallway runner using the kids old schooliform tops. I cut the tops into strips, dyed them and then used big needles to knit the repurposed chunky hardwearing fabric. It is so satisfying to give something that would otherwise be thrown away a new lease of life. It is a work in progress as a couple of years later I have more old schooliform tops to use. So will add a new orange/pink section on and make it a big square rug for our living room.

In Lockdown 1 in the UK to help manage anxiety of world, no work and home schooling, I taught myself to crochet this simple granny square and found it hugely cathartic to make this huge lockdown blanket.

I love blocks of colour and I love stripes. So I made this knitted runner that we have on the back of our sofa to add a colour pop.

I always wear a scarf and I am always cold. So I made myself a huge giant scarf to wear (although it is more like a blanket to be honest!)

One year I decided to make woolly hats.
